Freestyle is our annual talent showcase that celebrates the rich diversity, talented voices, and extraordinary achievements of the Rutgers Asian American community.
We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to our event, and unfortunately, tickets are currently sold out. However, we understand the excitement and eagerness of many who missed out. Thus, we're setting up this waitlist form for those still hoping to attend.
She loses memory every 7 days…
Sophie Lin is a freshman in college who suffers from a unique form of amnesia. After seven days, she loses all memory of her friends, unable to remember their names or faces. She enters college believing she is destined to be alone, but while moving in, she meets Eric Hsu, a charismatic and compassionate person determined to befriend Sophie.
Together with his friends Shannon Song and John Wu, Eric forms a club called Treating Sophie’s Amnesia (TSA), believing that while Sophie might forget her friends, she won’t forget her commitments. Unexpectedly, the club gains a following and the four “one-week friends” find themselves in charge of a student organization.
While exciting and fun, Sophie worries that this friendship cannot last. And as she integrates herself more into the club, memories of the trauma that caused her memory loss begin to surface.
Freestyle 2024 proceeds are donated to The Asian American Advancing Justice (AAJC) supporting their work in advancing equity and prosperity for the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the United States.
Their mission is to advance the civil and human rights of Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.
